Summer Shoutout and Pinterest!

Alright, y'all- well, after the world's longest sabbatical  from blogging, I'm back. But, I'm back only to say that I won't be back again until August....  Classy, huh?????

In the meantime, I have news.
Want to know where I've been for the past three months?

Stalking all of you terrific Kindergarten bloggers, that's where. Because, next year I officially teach Kindergarten. AH!!!!!!  And- how cool is this- one of my co-teachers will be MY former Kindergarten teacher. I mean, wowie-wow-wow, right people?!? Boy am I elated.  But, also a little bit scared. Ya'know how there's always one kiddo in every class- bless the little darling's heart- who drives their teacher crazy!?!? Well,  I am very worried that I may indeed have been that kiddo for my Kindergarten teacher. Awkward, right? And what's even more awkward was my P.E. habit- for low and behold I was the least athletic, most ball-phobic person in my entire elementary school- and every time we went to P.E. I tried to go to the nurse to avoid the public humiliation otherwise known as batting practice during softball season. And did I mention that my P.E. teacher is still at the building? With amnesia, I hope.  Not that he'll be surprised when I tell him I'm teaching Kindergarten rather than coaching fast-pitch softball.... Ha!

No, but seriously, it's going to be great as long as I can figure out how to teach Kindergarten. So, what I"m wondering is if any of you fabulous teachers have advice for me?

While I wait on your advice I will continue to stalk your blogs- Mrs. Lee's Kindergarten is INCREDIBLE if you've never been- and waste incredible amounts of time on my new favorite thing called Pinterest. I just got invited this very morning, and what can I say....?

I. am. ADDICTED.

It is incredible. Haven't seen Pinterest? Check it out here. Want a Pinterest of your own? Leave me a comment with your e-mail and I'll shoot you an invite ASAP.

Be back in August with free resources for y'all. I can't wait!!!

Hope you're having a TERRIFIC summer!

I moved from first to k two years ago...and survived! As for advice, here's my top 3: 1. get plenty of sleep, 2. directions must be explicit and in itty bitty baby bites, 3. lots of movement and singing. Are you teaching all day k or half day? You'll love it...have no fear! :o)
BTW, I would love a Pinterest invite: ajwage@comcast.net
Thank you!

I hope you love K as much as I do. I moved to K from 2nd grade 8 years ago. I spent the entire summer before hand on chat boards (no blogs then!) getting the best information on how to teach K out there. I agree with another poster, Mrs. Wageman's comments. #1 would be to explain and explain again. and maybe yet again. If you don't follow me, come on over! Don't hesitate to e-mail with questions - even the ones you feel silly asking! We all want to help!

You will love it! I think that the biggest adjustment that you will have is how much these little Kinders need to be "taught"...walking in lines, how to line up, going to lunch, where is the bathroom, where is the office, where is EVERYTHING?! LOL! They grow so much in a year! Good luck!!

After being in one position for 10 years, I have moved 3 times in the past 6 years. I have been in first grade now for the last 2 years (coming up on my 3rd) and I absolutely love it. However, I am sure after seeing all that you have down in first grade, you will be a total success in K!!
On another note, I love the Pinterest as well as your end of the year printables. The only thing is I can't seem to print them. They come up blurred in the print preview. Any suggestions? Good Luck this year. I am sure you will be great!
